Man charged with carrying a concealed weapon

THUNDER BAY – A 42-year-old man is in custody Wednesday morning after attempting to hide an axe in his waistband.

According to a release, patrol officers were in the area of the Shelter House dealing with a separate incident when they observed a man walking across the street with an axe in hand.

Police say the man placed the axe in his waistband and pulled his shirt over to conceal the weapon. Officers ordered the man to place the axe on the ground.

He complied and was arrested without incident.

He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and will appear in court Wednesday.
