Man found dead after being struck by train

THUNDER BAY — City police are investigating after a 28-year-old man was found dead on railway tracks at the waterfront over the weekend.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were sent to the railway crossing at Camelot and Water streets on Saturday evening after receiving reports of someone on the tracks, police said in a Monday morning news release.

The responding officers found the body of a man who appeared to have been struck by a train.

Police said the initial incident is believed to have been on the tracks between Water Street and Marina Park.

The individual has been identified as a 28-year-old man from Thunder Bay. Police said the notification of next of kin remains ongoing.

The police service's traffic unit is involved in the ongoing investigation.
