Man in critical condition as police investigate attempted homicide

THUNDER BAY — Police are investigating a serious assault that sent a man to hospital in critical condition.

Thunder Bay police said officers were called to the 300 block of Fassina Street just before 9 p.m. Monday after a disturbance.

Responding officers found a seriously injured man.

The victim was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further evaluation and treatment of his injuries. While the exact extent of his injuries is unknown, he remained in critical conditon on Tuesday.

The incident is being investigated as an attempted homicide by the police service's major crimes and forensic identification units.

Investigators are asking anyone in the area with home or business surveillance cameras, or dash camera footage, in the area of Fassina and Valley streets to review their footage and come forward if they have anything they believe to be relevant.
