A 37-year-old man is facing two charges following a brief stand-off with police on Friday afternoon.
A portion of Yonge Street was blocked off between Francis and Mary Streets just after 3 p.m. Friday.
Thunder Bay Police const. Julie Tilbury said they received a call from a family member, concerned about a male in distress. The caller also reported that the male likely had firearms, which Tilbury said escalated the situation.
Tilbury added that two firearms were found inside the residence, leading to two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.
The man was taken to hospital for assessment, and remains in police custody.
