Man killed after being struck by train: OPP

OPP officials have confirmed that a Fort Frances man was killed after being struck by a train Sunday morning.

OPP officials have confirmed that a Fort Frances man was killed after being struck by a train Sunday morning.

Police say the Rainy River District OPP responded to the incident involving a pedestrian and train at the Canadian National Railway main yard in Fort Frances shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday.

Justin Degagne, 28, of Fort Frances was killed when he was struck by a westbound departing freight train.

The incident took place just west of the area known as the Volunteer Bureau.

Officers with the Rainy River District OPP, the OPP’s northwest region identification unit, Fort Frances crime unit investigated the incident with the CN railway police.

No foul play is suspected.
