One person is dead and another is in serious condition in hospital following two separate crashes in the region involving transport trucks.
The fatality came this morning near Kenora on Highway 17A. Kenora detachment OPP officers say a transport heading east left the highway near the intersection with Highway 17, before it caught fire.
The name of the victim has not been released.
This follows an incident Tuesday morning on Highway 17 near Marathon. An truck heading east left the roadway and crashed through a set of guardrails before striking a rock-face.
The driver was initially taken to hospital in Marathon before being transferred to Thunder Bay for treatment.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
