THUNDER BAY -- A few too many drinks and getting into a physical altercation with a bar employee sent a 28-year-old man to a police holding cell for part of the long weekend.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers received several calls at about 12:30 a.m. Monday for a disturbance outside the Royalton Hotel on Bay Street.

Police said the man had been asked to leave the bar but refused and was escorted out after allegedly striking an employee. Once outside he continued to be combative until officers arrived.

The man was arrested under the Liquor License Act for being intoxicated in a public place.

He was later released with a provincial offences ticket after he was sober.
