A man who was taken to the hospital after being on fire outside the Arthur Street Courthouse last week has died.

Firefighters, paramedics and police officers responded to a report that a man was on fire near the Arthur Street Courthouse last Friday afternoon. Firefighters told reporters at the scene that bystanders extinguished the flames before crews arrived.

Police originally ruled the courthouse parking lot as a crime scene, but later said they were ruling out foul play.

Paramedics took the man to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Police confirmed Tuesday afternoon that the man had died.

The deceased was not identified.
