A homeowner who awoke to find a man attempting to ransack his vehicle overnight got more than he bargained for early Monday morning.

The homeowner, who lives in Tarbutt Street’s 1300 block, confronted the alleged thief, who then pulled a rifle on the man and told him to get back inside his home.

The suspect then fled on foot toward Francis Street. He was described as a Native Canadian in his 20s, wearing a light blue hoodie.

Police ask the public to phone them if they spot suspicious behaviour to protect themselves from dangerous situations and confrontations.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Thunder Bay Police.
