Marathon man faces drug and firearm charges

MARATHON, Ont. – A 23-year-old Marathon man is facing drug and firearm charges following an incident Tuesday evening.

Ontario Provincial Police received information Tuesday regarding a man that may have been carrying a loaded firearm in the Marathon area.

After further investigation, the man was located and arrested under the interest of public safety as well as his level of intoxication in a public place.

The 23-year-old was carrying a restricted firearm with ammunition, a prohibited knife, several pills, cash and other drug-related items.

Police charged Erik Constantin with possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm and ammunition along with several other charges.

He was held for video bail and remanded into custody before being transported to the Thunder Bay District Jail to await further bail hearings.
