MARATHON, Ont. -- The CAO of Marathon is urging municipal employees to become more rooted within the community.
The encouragement comes with financial incentives, as the CAO is offering that the township will pay those employees who do participate in community activities.
As of January 2015, town employees will have two days paid leave each year to participate in community activities.
It's the first management act of new CAO Daryl Skworchinksi.
He says it represents his management style of nurturing corporate responsibility among staff. He adds that developing skill sets beyond the job can improve relationships between citizens and the municipality.
The policy will apply to all employees of the municipality.
