PHILADELPHIA -- Thunder Bay's Marc Staal will play at least one more season in the National Hockey League.
The 16-year veteran defenceman, who signed a one-year deal last summer and helped lead the Florida Panthers to the Stanley Cup final, has signed a one-year, $1.1-million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Staal, 36, had three goals and 12 assists in 82 games with Florida last season, and has 52 goals and 229 points since joining the NHL in 2007-08 with the New York Rangers, the team that drafted him 12th overall in 2005.
He was joined in Florida last season by older brother Eric, who is currently an unrestricted free agent. Younger brother Jordan, the Carolina Hurricanes captain, earlier this offseason signed a four-year deal to remain in Raleigh, N.C.
