A deadline on a demand from the Matawa Chiefs has come and gone.
A little more than a week ago, the Chiefs gathered and called on senior levels of government to conduct a joint review panel environmental assessment for the Ring of Fire mining development. The chiefs, who represent nine First Nation communities flew to Ottawa Tuesday to lobby for the change.
The group says if their demand is not met, they will be forced to resort to alternative measures.
