SASKATOON, Sask. --- With three losses heading into her match on Tuesday night against Jacqueline Harrison, Krista McCarville is essentially in must-win territory at the 2021 Tim Hortons Curling Trials.

The Thunder Bay skip came through in the crunch.

McCarville, whose team includes Sarah Potts, Ashley Sippala and Kendra Lilly, opened a 3-0 lead on Harrison with steals of one in the second and third end, upped her lead to 5-1 and went on to capture her second win in five outings with a 6-4 triumph in Draw 9 play.

At 2-3, the Northern Ontario rink is tied for fifth spot at the trials with Casey Scheidegger. The top three teams will advance to the playoff round.

Tracy Fleury, who handed Rachel Homan her third loss of the week on Tuesday night, erasing a 3-1 deficit to win 8-3, leads the pack at 4-0. Jennifer Jones, edged out 10-9 by Kerri Einarson, is in second at 4-1. Einarson (3-2) is in third, while Harrison (2-2) is fourth.

McCarville takes on Einarson at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, her only match of the day.
