THUNDER BAY – Krista McCarville made a valiant effort to remain undefeated at the Olympic pre-trials, but came up a point short.

Down 7-3 through six ends, McCarville and her team clawed back to tie the match 7-7 after nine, only to give up a single without the hammer in the 10th to fall 8-7 to Kamloops, B.C.’s Corryn Brown.

The loss drops McCarville to 4-1, with one more match to go in round-robin play, still tops in the Pool A standings.

The top three teams advance to the playoffs.

Brown, at 4-2, sits in second, while Jaqueline Harrison is third at 3-1.

McCarville, whose team includes Sarah Potts, Ashley Sippala and Kendra Lilly, will take on Moose Jaw, Sask.’s Penny Barker (3-2) on Thursday afternoon to wrap up round-robin play.
