A public meeting is being held in Wednesday night concerning water levels on the Great Lakes.
The International Upper Great Lakes group hopes to gain feedback on a study started back in 2007, which looks at future water levels and regulations on the Great Lakes.
Forum organizer William Hryb said the meeting in Thunder Bay is crucial, as it's the second last opportunity in Canada for residents to voice their opinions.
Currently, Lake Superior is regulated through Sault Ste. Marie's river control. Now, new planning ideas are being considered for water level regulations, geared to economic and environmental interests.
According to Hryb, water levels greatly affect our city as the port, anglers, and cottage owners depend on regulated levels.
He said he’s hoping for a large turnout at the meeting, as the opinions gathered from residents will be taken to Ottawa.
The meeting will take place Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Lakehead University's ATAC building.
