A joint review panel outlining plans for a proposed mine in the Marathon area kicked off a series of public open houses Monday evening.
The purpose of the information session was to explain how residents can participate in the proposed Marathon Platinum Group Metals and Copper Mine project.
The company is looking to create an open pit mine and mill about 10 kilometres north of Marathon.
About 60 people attended the first of seven forums taking place around the region.
Panel spokeswoman Lucille Jamault said she was happy with the turnout and hopes to see more people getting involved in the process.
Another information session will be held tomorrow in Marathon and wrap up this Thursday in Thunder Bay.
