Construction of the new mental health wing at St. Joseph's hospital is now well underway, and officials at St. Joe's say it should be open on schedule next year.
The expansion project received the green light from the province back in April of 2015. It will add an extra 100,000 square feet to the hospital.
The expansion plans come with a price tag of about $52 million.
Elevator shafts and steel framing for the building are now in place.
Vice-president of Infrastructure and Planning Scott Potts says so far construction is going as planned.
The two-year construction project started in June of 2015, and Potts says it's still expected to be complete by the summer of 2017.
