A ghoulish start to their season continued to haunt the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday night.
The No. 4 McGill Redmen pulled away with a four-goal third period, ensuring the Wolves would stay winless through six, as the Wolves rock bottom with a team-record setting loss.
Mathieu Pompei set the pace for the Redmen, netting a hat trick and adding a single helper. Dominic-Talbot Tassi, Samuel Labrecque and David Rose had a goal and two assists apiece in the win.
Cody Alcock had a pair for Lakehead (0-6-0), who dug an early 4-0 deficit only to claw back to within a goal after Kelin Ainsworth scored shorthanded at the 8:29 mark of the second.
Alexandre Chenevert and Frederic Gremelin notched McGill’s other goals.
Jeff Bosch was saddled with the loss, allowing all eight goals on 43 shots. The Wolves just managed 24 on McGill goalie Jacob Gervais-Chouinard.
