THUNDER BAY -- A mill worker once listed in critical condition following a workplace incident has improved, say plant officials.

THUNDER BAY -- A mill worker once listed in critical condition following a workplace incident has improved, say plant officials.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident, which took place at Resolute Forest Products’ pulp and paper mill in Thunder Bay, that sent a worker to the hospital with serious injuries.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 25, sending the 29-year-old man to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre where he was originally said to be in critical condition.

The man is still at the hospital. Details into his current status were not provided to media, but a Resolute spokesperson did confirm that he had improved and was no longer listed in critical condition.

Until the late July incident, there had been no reported incidents at the company’s pulp and paper mill, sawmill and woodland operations through the first six months of the year.
