RED LAKE -- A mining company in Red Lake has been handed a hefty fine after a worker had an 800-pound tire fall on him while he was removing an axle from a scooptram.
The incident happened in January of 2015, and the worker was sent to hospital for his injuries.
A Ministry of Labor investigation revealed that Goldcorp did not have a written procedure for the work being performed on the tire.
The company pleaded guilty, and received a $55,000 fine, plus a 25 per cent victim fine surcharge.
