UPDATE: Snow plow driver charged in SUV crash

Crash disrupted traffic during Thursday morning rush hour.

THUNDER BAY — An SUV was seriously damaged in a collision with a snow plow on Thursday morning. 

Police were called to the intersection of Highway 61 and Chippewa Road at 8 a.m.

The SUV was driving north on Highway 61 and the snow plow was driving south and turned left toward the Chippewa Road turnoff, hitting the SUV. The driver of the snow plow was charged with careless driving. 

According to an OPP spokesperson there were no serious injuries sustained in the crash. However, the wife of the SUV driver in a Facebook post said one of the victims is in hospital with a fractured back and neck and may need surgery.
