Minor traffic violation, stench of pot lead to cocaine bust

(RED LAKE, ON) – On Saturday October 24, 2015 members of the Red Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 105 .  A white ford pickup was stopped for a minor traffic violation.

Upon speaking to the driver officers could smell the odor of marijuana. Through the investigation a large amount of cocaine and marihuana was located within the vehicle. 

The 24-year-old male driver and another 24-year-old man, both of Headingley Manitoba, have been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) and Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Under 3 kg, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA.  GALBRAITH has also been charged with Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to section 129 of the Criminal Code.

$32000 in CDSA and a 2008 F350 was seized as offence related property. Both Parties are held in custody pending Bail Court in Kenora on October 26, 2015.
