Mishkeegogamang woman dies in Highway 599 collision

Fatal single-vehicle collision on Highway 599 on Oct. 28 claims young woman's life, OPP report.

A 19-year-old woman from Mishkeegogamang First Nation has died in a single-vehicle collision on Highway 599.
A vehicle was travelling southbound on the highway between Eric Lake and Ace Lake when it left the roadway and rolled on the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 28, reported Ontario Provincial Police in a release Monday. The area is south of Pickle Lake, and about 300 kilometres north of Thunder Bay.
Officers from the OPP's Pickle Lake detachment and with the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS) responded to reports of the crash around 3:30 p.m.The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The OPP have identified the deceased as Whitney Rika Muckuck, 19, of nearby Mishkeegogamang First Nation.
Police continue to investigate the crash and appealed to anyone with information to contact Pickle Lake OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or submit information anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
