MNR cutting seven jobs in Thunder Bay, more around the region

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union says the Ministry of Natural Resources is cutting more than 100 jobs, including 23 in Northwestern Ontario.

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union says the Ministry of Natural Resources is cutting more than 100 jobs, including 23 in Northwestern Ontario. 

Dryden and Thunder Bay are each losing seven positions; Kenora will lose three positions, while Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and Fort Frances will each lose two positions.

The affected employees given notice Tuesday include administrative support staff, digital mapping staff, regulatory compliance staff, foresters and biologists. 

However, the MNR says it is planning to hire people for 250 new jobs, to fill new and vacant positions.
