The MNR in Dryden has laid charges in a pair of illegal hunting cases.

The first case occurred in November, when two Wisconsin hunters used the headlights of their truck to help them shoot a deer on the side of a road north of Dryden. That deer turned out to be an MNR decoy, and the hunters were arrested at the scene.

The men have been fined a total of $3,000 for hunting at night and shooting from a roadway.

The other incident involved a southern Ontario man who shot a cow moose in October.

The other members of his hunting party were more than five kilometres away, including the holder of the cow moose tag for the group.

The hunter has been fined $2,000.
