DRYDEN, Ont. — A blaze near One Island Lake, 30 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay, was among three bushfires responded to by Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry crews in northwestern Ontario on Victoria Day.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says the fire burned about one-third of a hectare before it was declared out.

The other fires occurred in the Kenora and Red Lake districts.

A fire on a rail corridor just east of Redditt burned less than half a hectare before being declared out.

On Pikangikum First Nation, a fire of less than a quarter of a hectare was listed as under control.

Across the Northwest Region, the forest fire hazard is high to extreme.
