More than 100 employees in the region's industrial, commercial and institutional sectors received a lesson in going green Thursday.
The Thunder Bay Zero Waste Action Team partnered with the Ministry of Environment and the City to hold the day-long workshop. Organizers hope to educate community members about waste reduction, recycling and reusing in those three sectors.
It's part of the province's efforts to get more businesses to co-operate with the mandatory regulations set out by the Ministry. In 2007, the province hired 10 officers to conduct recycling inspections across Ontario.
Plans for a new litter-free green event program were also unveiled. It is a program aimed at helping community members plan events that are more environmentally friendly and produce less waste.
