A U.S. fugitive from Georgia accused of trying to buy a five-year-old boy over the Internet will remain in a Thunder Bay jail.

Patrick Molesti, 56, made a video appearance in Toronto for a detention hearing conducted by the Immigration and Refugee Board.

Molesti maintained that he's innocent of the charges but conceded he's a flight risk. An international manhunt for Molesti ended in the city last week when he was arrested at the Greyhound Bus Terminal.

The Canada Border Services Agency says it is likely he will be deported due to the charges he is facing in the United States.
