THUNDER BAY -- The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario has already laid out its strike plans for next week, and if no deal is reached, students at Thunder Bay's public elementary schools will be out of class for two days.

The union on Tuesday night announced it plans to hold a province-wide strike next Tuesday, with local rotating strikes scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Teachers with Lakehead Public Schools, Superior-Greenstone and Keewatin-Patricia boards will also be off the job next Thursday.

Locally elementary students will be out of class three days this week. Schools were closed on Tuesday because teacher and education workers with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation walked off the job. ETFO has promised to hold two strike days a week going forward until a contract is reached. Bargaining broke down last Friday after three days of talks.

Four separate teachers' unions are without contracts and staging some form of job action.
