PICKLE LAKE, ON — OPP have charged three residents of Mishkeegogamang First Nation with drug trafficking in connection with recent incidents involving what police believe were illicit opioids.

On Oct. 14, Pickle Lake OPP responded to two separate occurrences in which a Pickle Lake resident and a Mishkeegogaming man ingested medication which they thought was Percocet (oxycodone).

Police believe the pills were actually illicit opioids made to look like pharmaceutically-produced medication.

After ingesting them, both individuals fell unconscious, and one of them—29-year-old Simon Masakeyash of Mishkeegogamang—died.

OPP earlier announced the arrest of a 59-year-old Pickle Lake man on a trafficking charge in connection with the case.
