THUNDER BAY -- Further details on the plan to settle refugees in Thunder Bay are emerging now, with support groups preparing for the influx of new arrivals.

The Thunder Bay Multicultural Association, the group responsible for settling refugees in this area, had a conference call with the federal government Tuesday afternoon, and says the plan has been further clarified.

Executive director Cathy Woodbeck said Thunder Bay would be receiving people from United Nations refugee camps in Lebanon, who have already been screened. In addition, the Syrian and Iraqi refugees coming to Thunder Bay would likely be privately sponsored, and not paid for on the taxpayer dime.
