THUNDER BAY — There have been a number of recent tire slashing incidents in the city's south end, according to city police.

“I can confirm that police have had multiple reports of vehicles being vandalized, with their tires slashed, in an area of the south side of the city this weekend,” said a Thunder Bay Police Service spokesperson in an email to Newswatch Monday afternoon.

The spokesperson could not say how many reports police have received.

Several people have posted to social media that their tires were slashed in Westfort over the past few days.

One person said they found their tires slashed outside their apartment on Frederica Street. Another poster said their tires were slashed Thursday night in the Vickers Park area incurring hundreds in replacement costs. Both said they reported the incidents to police.

Police encourage anyone else whose vehicle has been vandalized to file an online report.
