Murder on McLaughlin

Police say a 63-year-old man is dead and 31-year-old suspect Charles Norman Casmey is at large, wanted on a second-degree murder charge.

THUNDER BAY – A 31-year-old man wanted for second-degree murder is on the loose.

Upon arrival at a home in the 500 block of McLaughlin Street in the city’s East End, police say they  found a 63-year-old man deceased. A 25-year-old woman was also injured in the early-morning incident.

Police say they are searching for Charles Norman Casmey of Thunder Bay, who is wanted on both the murder charge and assault causing bodily harm.

He is considered armed and dangerous.

Earlier this month Casmey was charged with two counts of robbery and forcible confinement, flight from police, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and failure to stop at the scene of an accident following an incident on Tuscany Drive.

Police advise the public not to interact with the suspect and to call them if Casmey is seen in public.

It's Thunder Bay's second homicide of 2018.

Police spokeswoman Const. Julie Tilbury confirmed the suspect and the occupants of the house were known to one another.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police at 684-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Police are still holding the scene of the homicide and the investigation continues.
