A woman charged in the city's first homicide of the year had her case adjourned until next week.

Priscilla Thomas, 38, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the Jan. 25 death of 35-year-old Jeffrey Munroe inside an apartment building on the corner of Kingsway Avenue and Walsh Street.

Thomas appeared via video at the Ontario Court of Justice Thursday and was remanded until Feb. 6.

Police said the investigation revealed a domestic altercation had occurred between Thomas and Munroe, who lived together.

The altercation escalated and Munroe was stabbed. Alcohol was a factor.

Police responded to an ambulance assistance call at the building at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Jan. 25.

Munroe was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
