NDP attacks Liberal’s transit project revisions

The NDP was on the offensive at Queens Park Wednesday over revisions in transit projects announced in last week's provincial budget.

Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath warned that changes to the TTC streetcar contract would put jobs at risk at Thunder Bay's Bombardier plant. It will also prevent the company from making upgrades that would allow them to attract new foreign contracts.

But Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty rejected Horwath's claim that $4 billion in transit projects had been cut.

He said that given the financial problems faced by the province, they have opted instead to phase in the work over a longer period of time.
