NEEBING – A Neebing man must pay the province $1,500 after being fined for illegal hunting.

Brennan Mercier has also been banned from hunting for one year and must complete the Ontario Hunter Education course before being allowed to hunt again in the province.

Conservation officers told the court about a Nov. 12, 2015 complaint about a deer being shot in a driveway of a residence on Sturgeon Bay Road.

It was later determined Mercier shot a white-tail deer.

The case was heard in the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 3.
