THUNDER BAY -- Officials with the Ministry of Transportation say construction on the Thunder Bay Expressway at the Neebing River Bridge is expected to be complete sometime in late fall.
The $2.7 million project began in mid-July, and has shut down two of the four lanes on the expressway around Arthur Street.
The work to rehabilitate the bridge was originally scheduled to be complete by Oct. 21, but MTO officials previously confirmed that the work was behind schedule.
So far, only one side of the bridge has been worked on, but most of the substructure repairs underneath the bridge are complete.
MTO officials said the work will switch to the other side of the bridge later this month, and they expect it to progress much quicker than the east side.
They expect the highway will re-open to four lanes of traffic by the end of the construction season, but no exact date was given.
