THUNDER BAY - Superior North EMS will be receiving four new ambulances this year, after city council approved the purchase order earlier this week.
The 2017 budget has put $550,000 aside for ambulance replacement. The vehicles go to over 30,000 calls each year, and are replaced on a six to nine year cycle.
On Monday night, city staff tabled a report recommending the city buy four new ambulances from a Saskatchewan company for just over $509,000.
Councillors were supportive of the ask and voted unanimously in favour of the new ambulances.
