THUNDER BAY — The city's new police chief will continue introducing himself to the community next week.

The Thunder Bay Police Service on Thursday announced that Chief Darcy Fleury will hold two public townhall forums on May 24 and May 25.

Fleury was formally sworn-in as police chief at a ceremony earlier this week, after serving in a chief-designate role for the previous month.

The police service said Fleury "wants to give the community a chance to ask questions, voice concerns, and provide general input about all issues relating to policing in the City of Thunder Bay."

"The goal is to create a more open and transparent Thunder Bay Police Service for the City of Thunder Bay and Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge."

The force added that input from the session could help shape the future priorities of the police service.

The first session will be held on May 24 at the Oliver Road Community Centre, followed by the second forum at the West Thunder Community Centre the next night.

Both are free and will start at 6:30 p.m.

Fleury had also participated in a McKellar ward meeting last week.
