The Northwestern Health Unit announced one new case of COVID-19 in the Kenora region Saturday evening.

KENORA – A new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the Kenora region.

The Northwestern Health Unit announced the news via Facebook Saturday evening, saying it would communicate directly with anyone identified as a close contact of the case.

The Kenora region has seen a recent COVID-19 surge , with 20 active cases according to the health unit's most recent publicly available data, updated Friday morning. 

The precise location of those cases is not clear – the health unit's Kenora region includes nearly two dozen communities spread over a large geographic area (a full list is available on the agency's website).

Elsewhere in the health unit's territory, the Dryden/Red Lake, Rainy River, and Sioux Lookout regions each had one active case of COVID-19 as of Friday morning.
