New COVID-19 case brings district total to 78

THUNDER BAY - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced one new confirmed case of COVID-19 Saturday, bringing the total number of cases in the district to 78, with 68 of those considered resolved.

THUNDER BAY - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced one new confirmed case of COVID-19 Saturday, bringing the total number of cases in the district to 78, with 68 of those considered resolved.

The latest cases consists of a male in his twenties in Thunder Bay or the surrounding area. The health unit believes he acquired the virus through close contact with an existing confirmed case. He is now self-isolating at home.

Of the total of 78 cases, 68 are resolved and nine are active. The virus has claimed the life of one man in the district.

5,519 tests have been conducted in the district, with 5,442 of those returned negative as of May 7.
