New COVID-19 case brings total to 77 in district

THUNDER BAY - A new confirmed case of COVID-19 brings the total in the Thunder Bay District to 77.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit said in a release issued Thursday afternoon that a man in his 40s has tested positive for the virus.

The man is self-isolating and the exposure is listed as close contact. The date of exposure was May 2.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 to 77 in the district, with 11 cases listed as active, 65 resolved, and one reported death.

There have been 5,341 tests conducted and 5,265 have returned negative.

The health unit is reminding the public to continue to practice physical distancing, exercise proper hand hygiene, avoid touching your face, and to stay home as much as possible.

Anyone who may have symptoms of COVID-19 is advised to self-isolate and use the online self assessment tool.
