THUNDER BAY -- The city’s new electronic Bingo Centre is beginning to take shape.

The facility will be located in the former Tonic nightclub on Memorial Avenue, next to the Super 8 Motel.  Renovations got underway a few months ago.

The e-Bingo Gaming Centre is a partnership between Thunder Bay Community Bingo and Ontario Lottery and Gaming.

The traditional paper bingo games will be complemented by electronic games, in a bid to bring back interest in Bingo and attract new players.

OLG spokesman Ryan Bissonette said the province now has 21 of these new electronic gaming centres.

OLG will manage the electronic games, while Thunder Bay Community Bingo will oversee the operation.

The profits would be split four ways -- 25 per cent for the charities, 25 per cent for OLG, 47 per cent for the hall operator and three per cent for the City of Thunder Bay.

Bissonnette said there's no clear timeline for when the new facility will open.
