As the new headquarters building along Junot Avenue takes shape, the head of Thunder Bay EMS says the project is on time and on budget.

EMS chief Norm Gale said he's pleased with the progress so far. Groundbreaking on the new facility took place in April, and the building's frame is now in place.

Gale added that with the framework established, pouring of the second-floor concrete will begin later this week and the building's shape will soon become even more evident.

The $11-million facility will house the ambulances for Thunder Bay, and paramedics will be responding to emergency calls from this new location.

Gale said it will also help with response time for the north half of Thunder Bay.

He said he expects the building will be complete and ready for EMS services to move into the new facility in February.
