The stretch of new four-lane highway on Highway 11-17 that was opened on Friday is great for drivers, but not so good for some businesses on the new portion of Lakeshore Drive.
John D'Angelo is the manager of Crystal Beach Variety. He's noticed a big drop in traffic since the change was made last week.
Making matters worse is that there's only one way to get onto Lakeshore Drive between Mackenzie Heights Road and Birch Beach Road.
Two more access points are supposed to be finished in the next two weeks, but D'Angelo is worried and says the hit to business over the past few days has been obvious.
Last weekend was also the first time the store was able to sell alcohol, which D'Angelo calls that a small saving grace.
He's also been told the entire new stretch of Lakeshore Drive is scheduled to be completed by the end of August.
