The North of Superior Tourism Association celebrated the grand opening of its new location Thursday on May Street.

Officials with NOSTA say the new site will reduce their expenses and raise the association's profile.

NOSTA wanted to be in a more visible location and in a tourism area. The association is gearing up for what it hopes will be a busy summer.

Acting President Ray Rivard said he expects this season to be a little more active than last year but there will be challenges such as providing a passport at the border. Rivard said NOSTA will concentrate on getting value for its membership.

NOSTA has another big day coming up on May 4. That's when the association will resume its annual general meeting which originally began in December but was bogged down by infighting within the organization. Executive Director Don Pearl said he's looking forward to the AGM and the election of up to nine new directors to the board. NOSTA is also working away with the City of Thunder Bay and Sunset Country Tourism Association to make the region's tourism sector stronger. He said the provincial re-alignment will work similar to the previous setup.

The North of Superior Tourism Association has just over 200 members.
