New OPP detachment commanders named for Greenstone, Marathon

Both police officers will be promoted to staff sergeants and will take command in their respective locations starting Nov. 30.

THUNDER BAY - The Ontario Provincial Police have announced new leaders for two detachments in northwestern Ontario.

In a news release issued Friday, Nov. 13, OPP has announced Sgt. Cam Ducharme as the new detachment commander in Marathon and Sgt. Brent Genereux as the detachment commander in Greenstone.

Ducharme began his career in 2005 as a cadet with the Sudbury OPP detachment and was then hired as an OPP constable working at Hornepayne and Upper Ottawa Valley detachments before being transferred to Schrieber in 2013, the release said. He was promoted to sergeant in 2014 in Schreiber.

Genereux began his career with the OPP in 2002 in Ignace before being transferred to Thunder Bay in 2008. He also served as a member of the northwest emergency response team for three years. Genereux also worked as a platoon sergeant, provincial communications centre sergeant, critical incident stress response and peer support sergeant and worked as an acting detachment commander in Pikangikum.

"I want to congratulate Brent Genereux for being selected as the Commander for Greenstone Detachment and Cam Ducharme who has been selected as the Commander for Marathon Detachment,” OPP Regional Commander Chief Superintendent Dave Lucas said in the release.
