THUNDER BAY – The Conseil scolaire de district catholique des Aurores boréales is proud to announce the appointment of Marie-France Tousignant as superintendent of education. She will begin her new duties as of Nov. 15, while ensuring a smooth transition with the new principal at École secondaire catholique de La Vérendrye.

Ms. Tousignant began her career in education in 2008 at the Conseil scolaire Viamonde (Toronto area) and has held positions as a teacher, guidance counsellor, principal, and director of student services. Throughout her career, she has distinguished herself for her leadership skills and innovation, benefitting the schools and portfolios for which she was responsible.

Since her arrival in Thunder Bay in 2019, she has served as principal of ÉSC de La Vérendrye, where she successfully initiated a digital shift during the pandemic and created a new sports concentration program.

"It’s an honour to join a team of professionals I respect and with whom I share the values of integrity and collaboration," said Tousignant. "I will continue to provide students with a quality French-language education and enable them to succeed in a healthy learning environment."

A true educational leader, Ms. Tousignant will be responsible, among other things, for supervising our schools and ensuring the implementation of the Ontario Ministry of Education and Board programs.

"We are pleased to welcome Ms. Tousignant as superintendent. Her career has been marked by success and innovation. We are convinced that her leadership and experience will benefit all our school communities while contributing to francophone vitality in Northwestern Ontario," said Lucie Allaire, Director of Education.

The Conseil scolaire de district catholique des Aurores boréales covers and serves nine communities in the Northwestern Ontario region and includes nine elementary schools and one secondary school.
