New tool launched for health-sector recruitment

The online platform expands the reach of current medical recruitment efforts.

THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission has launched a new online tool for recruiting doctors and other medical professionals.

The health recruitment platform WWW.GOTOTHUNDERBAY/HEALTH targets professionals needed to fill some of the city's most in-demand jobs including family physicians and specialists, nurses, pharmacists, personal support workers, technicians and medical technologists.

In an announcement Wednesday, CEDC's health sciences recruiter, Lexie Penko, said the initiative is aimed at broadening the reach of existing recruitment efforts to include skilled candidates who might otherwise be missed.

"We are experiencing labour shortages in healthcare, as are many communities, and we have to do more to spread the word about the careers and lifestyles Thunder Bay has to offer," Penko said.

She said CEDC encourages local residents to share GOTOTHUNDERBAY.CA/HEALTH with their contacts and in their networks.

The information on the site includes descriptions of the community, its health care facilities, and incentives that are available for professionals considering relocating to Thunder Bay.
